Torsion of Uterine Adnexal Neoplasm Limitation of sonographic examination

ABSTRACT
The sonographic and clinical findings of 8 cases of surgically proven torsion of adnexal neoplasm are reviewed. The results were as follows: 1. Patients age ranges from 14 to 46 years with an average of 27.6 year old. 2. 4 out 8 (50%) had intermittent pain attack. Mild leukocytosis and increased body temperature were observed in 3 and 5 patients, respectively. Direct tenderness was felt in 6 cases. 3. Clinically torsion was suggest in 7 patients and sonographically in 3 patients. 4. Pathologically,4 patients were dermoid cyst, two simple cyst, one, serous cystadenoma and one mucinous cystadenoma. 5. Sonogram findings are 1) All were mainly cystic in nature. 2) Low to high level internal echo debri were observed in 6 cases. 3) 3 patients showed minimal pelvic fluid collection. 4) 3 cases complained tenderness when transducer pressed the mass.
